In 2014, botanical scientist Matthew Scott founded cbdDR with a single guiding principle: follow the science, not the market. At a time when the cannabinoid industry was just beginning to emerge — and long before CBD became a mainstream marketing phenomenon — cbdDR was already developing standardized cannabinoid formulations based on peer-reviewed research, not trend cycles or profit projections.
That founding principle has never changed. It is the reason cbdDR exists, and the reason it is different from virtually every other brand in this space.
The Problem We Were Founded to Solve
The cannabinoid wellness market is flooded with products that share a common profile: white-labeled bulk extract purchased from contract manufacturers, applied with a custom label, marketed with unsubstantiated health claims, and sold through influencer networks, MLM structures, or aggressive digital advertising. The brand has no formulation expertise. The product has no standardization. The "education" is marketing copy dressed as science.
A 2017 study published in JAMA found that 69% of CBD products sold online were mislabeled — containing either more or less CBD than stated on the label. This is not a fringe problem. It is the predictable outcome of an industry built on white-label commodities and marketing-first business models.

Every cbdDR product is formulated in-house by Matthew Scott — a lifelong botanical scientist with hands-on cannabinoid formulation experience dating to 2014. We do not purchase pre-made extracts and apply our label. We develop our own formulations from defined cannabinoid specifications, using our own extraction and blending processes, with our own quality control systems.

Standardized Cannabinoid Concentrations
Standardization means every bottle of every product delivers the same verified cannabinoid concentrations — batch to batch, month to month, year to year. This requires in-house formulation expertise, raw material quality control, in-process testing, and finished product verification. It is significantly harder and more expensive than white-labeling. It is also the only way to deliver a product that performs consistently.
Without standardization, the dose you establish in week one may be completely different from the dose in week four when you open a new bottle. Standardization is not a premium feature — it is the minimum requirement for a product that actually works.
ISO/IEC 17025-Accredited Third-Party Testing — Every Batch
Every batch of every cbdDR product is tested by an independent laboratory holding ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation — the international gold standard for laboratory competence. Testing covers the full panel: cannabinoid potency, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium), pesticides, residual solvents, and microbials.
